Crafting for a Cause

As Frankston Craft Club enters its third year of crafting, community, and creativity - we’ve taken time to reflect on what truly matters most to us, and that’s people! Over the years, we've been incredibly humbled by the generosity, warmth, and connection shared across our workshop tables. From beginners trusting us to try something new, to seasoned makers sharing tips. This space has always been about more than just craft, it's been about coming together.

Our participants have consistently shown up not only with curiosity and creativity, but with heart. We've seen friendships form, skills grow, and laughter shared - all while creating beautiful, handmade things. That kind of connection is rare, and it’s something we don’t take for granted.

But with three years behind us and a bright future ahead, we’ve been asking:
How can we add even more value to our community?
How can we continue to do what we love while giving back in a meaningful way?

And so, Crafting for a Cause was born!

Crafting for a Cause is our heartfelt extension aimed at giving back to the causes that matter in our community by utilising surplus materials from our studio to create thoughtfully curated crafting experiences, with 100% of profits to be donated to a chosen charity. Each session will offer something unique, based on what’s available and the needs of the group, meaning the projects will naturally evolve over time as materials are used up or sold out. It’s a creative way to reduce waste while making space for something meaningful.

Every ticket booked will help fund real, tangible impact. It’s crafting with heart, and we can’t wait for you to be part of it!

How Does it Work?

Getting involved with Crafting for a Cause is simple.
Start by checking out our current material/workshop availability on our Crafting for a Cause page. We’ll be updating it regularly with seasonal ideas and materials we have on hand. Since these workshops are designed around leftover stock, what’s available will naturally shift and change.

Once you have a cause in mind and a rough idea of the kind of project you'd like to do, reach out to us directly. We’ll work together to design the perfect workshop, blending your vision with the materials we have available. After we’ve finalised the details, we’ll send you a private booking link or invoice to secure your session. Then all that’s left is to gather your group and prepare for a joyful, meaningful crafternoon!

The Nitty Gritty…

To give you the greatest understanding of how we intend to offer this service, and how you can best utilise it, we’ve created a FAQ style Q&A below.

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

  • Our craft offerings are based on the materials currently available on our Crafting for a Cause page.

Currently our available materials include floral brooches, felted decorations, and pom poms; but each activity can be tailored to reflect the host or cause. For example - We could make Pom Pom Bear Charms where the proceeds go to Free The Bears, or make Felted Bookmarks where proceeds go to the Pyjama Foundation

Feel free to reach out with your concept, or let us pitch some ideas for you to choose from!

  • Each Crafting for a Cause workshop is thoughtfully designed to be a meaningful, hands-on experience that gives back.

    Your session will include:

    - a customised craft activity, chosen in collaboration with you
    - all tools and materials needed to complete your chosen project (no extra purchases required)
    - any protective equipment (if required)

Your workshop will be facilitated by Brooke (owner of Frankston Craft Club) who brings experience, warmth, and a welcoming approach to every session.

Please note that venue hire is not included in this initiative. While we're happy to help you find a suitable space, booking the location will be your responsibility.

  • Attendance really comes down to two things: how much material we have available and how much space you have to host.

Since each Crafting for a Cause session is designed around surplus or leftover stock, the number of participants we can cater for will vary depending on the project and materials on hand at the time. Likewise, if you're hosting the session at your home, workplace, or community venue, the physical space will help determine what’s comfortable.

If we have an extra limited offering it will be listed as such on the website, but we’re always happy to chat through what’s possible.

  • If you have something in mind that aligns with our available options - of course!

If you have something super specific in mind that steps out of the scope of our available materials you will be redirected to booking in a regular workshop.

  • If you have something special in mind or materials to contribute, we’re open to incorporating them! Let us know during planning for the most seemless experience for all.

  • You get to pitch the cause that’s meaningful to you!

We currently prefer organisations that are registered with the Australian Charity and Not-for-profits Commission, but are open to grassroots and local initiatives.

Please note, the final donation will be made post event under ‘Frankston Craft Club’. This is so that where applicable, we can claim the deduction to help promote the businesses financial sustainability.

  • Our goal is to do good, fairly and thoughtfully, so we’ll always take care to ensure the causes we support reflect that.

We’re committed to using Crafting for a Cause to support organisations that uplift, include, and empower. As such, we won’t fund any group or cause that we believe promotes hate speech, discrimination, racism, sexism, or any values that conflict with the inclusive, community-first spirit of Frankston Craft Club.

We also reserve this initiative for legitimate, verifiable causes. Registered charities, nonprofits, and clearly structured fundraising efforts are preferred to ensure transparency and accountability. We will support grassroots and local initiatives, but may ask for a few extra details - like contact information, proof of need, or evidence of where funds will go to make sure the impact is genuine.

  • Depending on the type of event, we can approach collecting funds in one of three ways:

    1) We create an Eventbrite page with a password that you can promote to your attendees so that they can pay through a safe ticketing portal. In this instance, the Eventbrite fees will be passed on to each ticket, therefore a $25 workshop ticket will cost a participant $27.66.

    2) We supply a BSB and Account Number that participants can transfer into (with name and event supplied as reference). 100% of funds transferred into the account will be sent on to the agreed cause following the event.

    3) We supply you with an Invoice. 100% of the invoice will be sent on to the agreed cause following the event.

We will hold onto the funds until after the event, when we will transfer the money to the charity and send a receipt of deposit made to the organiser.

If you are unsure of which method works best for you/your plans please get in touch and we can discuss it further.

We are not currently accepting pay on the day activations/workshops as we want to donate our time and resources responsibly and believe pre-booked numbers is the best way to do so.

  • We’re starting this initiative in hopes we can keep tickets between $25-$35 per person (with the goal of being accessible); However, if we have surplus of materials that are expensive the event tickets will need to reflect that.

  • To ensure its longevity and sustainability alongside our other services, there will only be one Crafting for a Cause slot available per month, so please ensure you reach out as soon as possible to secure your event.

  • We are happy to deliver the workshops at no additional cost up to 30km from Frankston CBD. Any further may incur a travel fee which will be discussed during booking.

We truly hope the community embraces Crafting for a Cause with the same heart and generosity that’s shaped Frankston Craft Club, and the goal of creating positive change through small, joyful actions.

Whether you choose to host a crafternoon, or simply spread the word, your involvement helps turn creativity into something powerful. We can’t wait to see what we’ll make (and give!) together.
